Terms of use
Last updated: 21 October 2026
The short version: you pay once for a TillOwn licence and use it to run your till. These terms explain what that covers.
Who you're dealing with
TillOwn is made by Peter Moore (ICAREngine). Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy as the merchant of record for our store (ICAREngine), so the checkout, payment, receipts and sales tax are handled by Lemon Squeezy, and their buyer terms also apply to the purchase. Questions: hello@tillown.com.
Your licence
- Buying TillOwn gives you a licence key for one main till: TillOwn on one Mac or Windows computer at a time. It is a one-off payment with no subscription.
- You can move the licence to a new computer with Till settings › Move licence. This frees it on the old computer.
- You can use TillOwn in your own business. You may not resell, share, copy or publish the licence key or the software, or try to get around the licence check.
- The software is licensed to you, not sold. We keep ownership of TillOwn.
Extra tills and the tablet app
iPad and Android tablets added with ADD TILL, and the floor ordering pad, work with your licensed main till and don't need a licence of their own. The TillOwn tablet app is free. It is a companion second till and needs TillOwn running on a Mac or Windows computer on the same Wi-Fi.
Updates
When we publish a new version of TillOwn, you can download and install it with your existing licence key. Your licence and your till data stay as they are.
Your till, your records
- Your till data is stored on your own computer. You are responsible for keeping it safe, including making backups (TillOwn makes one at every cash-up).
- Check that your prices, currency, tax (VAT, GST or sales tax) and receipt details are right for your business. You remain responsible for your own tax returns and record keeping.
- Card payments are taken on your own card machine. TillOwn records the sale but doesn't process card payments.
Refunds
See our refund policy.
Our responsibility
We work hard to make TillOwn reliable, and we'll help if something goes wrong. To the extent the law allows, TillOwn is provided "as is", and our total liability to you for anything related to TillOwn is limited to the amount you paid for your licence. We aren't responsible for indirect losses such as lost profits, or for problems caused by your computer, network, printer, card machine or other equipment.
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have by law that can't be limited, including your statutory rights as a consumer where they apply.
Ending your licence
If you're refunded, or if you seriously break these terms (for example by sharing or reselling your licence key), the licence key can be deactivated. Your till data stays on your computer.
Changes
We may update these terms, for example when we add features. The version on this page applies from the date at the top. Changes won't take away a licence you've already paid for.
